RAUNAK SADHWANI BAGS FIRST NORM INTERNATIONAL MASTER AWARD IN INTERNATIONAL CHESS TOURNAMENT

Raunak Sadhwani of class 6th Centre Point School, Katol Road has been scaling great heights in the game of Chess. This prodigy with a purpose played the CZECK Grandmasters Open International Chess Tournament held from 21st to 29th July’17 in Pardubice (Czechoslavakia).

Raunak was among the 335 International Masters and Grandmasters from around the world who had come to participate in this Mega event organised and conducted by Are-Kontakt S.R.O. Pardubice. Raunak’s confidence and competence in the game placed him at the 59th Rank with 5.5 out of 9 points. He defeated the 24th seeded Grandmaster Andrei Kovalev of Belarus and was draw with higher rated players including International Masters Biolok Richard, Malakhov Igor, Kovacevic Blazimir and Grand Masters including Menman Petre, Haba Petre, Abergel Thal and Jansa Vlastimil.

Raunak remained unbeaten throughout and increased 45 nos international rating, the current rating is 2359. He received a certificate and the 1st Norm International Master Award. He returned jubilant completing his maiden norm of becoming Maharashtra’s Youngest International Master in chess.

 

The school is extremely proud of Raunak’s achievement in International Chess. Mrs. Shilpee Ganguly, Principal CPS Katol Road complimented Raunak on his stupendous success. The school coach for chess Mr. Vilas Nerkar also commended this promising International Master.
