CPS Kr won ‘National Championship’ in BADMINTON while ‘Raunak’ excels in INTERNATIONAL CHESS


A spectacular game plan and synergy between Sudhanshu Bhure, Sriniwas Saoji and Rohan Gurbani fetched them the title of National Champs in CBSE Natioinal Badminton Championship held in Varanasi from 19th to 24th Dec’15.

In the 1st Round Centre Point School, Katol Road beat the Indian High School, Dubai with 2-0. In the 2nd Round CPS Katol Road beat Chiranjeev Bharti School, Gurgaon, Haryana with 2-0. The 3rd Round CPS Katol Road beat Allahabad Public School, Allahabad wih 2-0.

In Semi Final CPS Katol Road beat Sunbeam School Lahartara, Varanasi (U.P.) with 2-0.Thus the team of Centre Point School, Katol Roald earned the attractive Championship Trophy. The Paddlers expressed their gratitude to their school coaches Vishwajeet Singh and Nitin Raut for the guidance

Rohan Gurbani and Sudhanshu Bhure have, both been selected for SGFI Badminton Championship to be held later in Aurangabad.



Raunak Sadhwani of class V, Centre Point School, Katol Road has been steadily working his way to playing International Chess. In Dec’16 he participated in the prestigious Sunway Sitges Chess Festival held at Barcelona, Spain, organised by Spain Chess Federation.

Raunak with his alertness and studied moves coupled with his confidence crossed the 2300 Rating mark and completed the requirements to become a FIDE MASTER. The title is bestowed on the player after a range of admirable performances. Raunak gained 54 ELO rating points defeating much higher rated opponents as well as titled players.

In the event held in Barcelona, Raunak was awarded a trophy and a cash prize of one hundred and ten Euros and was honoured with the title of FIDE MASTER by the World Chess Federation.

He now has a whopping 2218 Live rating which places him 5th in the WORLD, 4th in ASIA and 2nd in INDIA in the U/12 age category.

Raunak’s skill in the game is the result of his perseverance and talent. He was commended for this exemplary honour by Vilas Nerkar, the school coach and the entire Sports Department.

He was applauded in the morning assembly by Mrs. Shilpee Ganguly, Principal, CPS Katol Road, Mrs. Renu Singh & Mrs. Mridu Gulla, Vice Principals, Staff & Students.

It was a proud moment for Centre Point School, Katol Road when Raunak Sadhwani of class V who has brought laurels in State, National & International Chess was felicitated by former 5 times World Champion, Grandmaster Vishwanathan Anand. He was felicitated with a bouquet and a silver coin.
